Breaking News: 20 Vehicles Collide in Horrific Fog-Related Accident on Yamuna Expressway

20 Vehicles Collide in Horrific Fog-Related Accident

The dense fog that engulfed Delhi-NCR on Wednesday morning resulted in a major vehicular pile-up on the Yamuna Expressway, spanning the stretch from Greater Noida to Agra. The collision involved a minimum of 20 vehicles, exacerbating travel challenges in the region.

The reduced visibility, reaching zero in some areas, was a consequence of the pervasive fog and prevailing winter conditions in Delhi-NCR and its adjacent areas. The hazardous weather prompted a swift response from the Greater Noida police, who were dispatched to the scene to effectively manage the situation and provide assistance to those affected by the pile-up.

Beyond the roads, the adverse weather conditions in Delhi had cascading effects on transportation networks. At least 110 flights, encompassing both domestic and international arrivals and departures, experienced disruptions due to the dense fog at Delhi Airport. Simultaneously, 25 trains faced delays during the morning commute.

Delhi Airport FIDS (Flight Information Display System) data highlighted the impact on air travel, stating, “Delhi Airport is facing delays affecting approximately 110 flights, both (domestic and international) arrivals and departures, due to dense fog,” as reported by news agency ANI.

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Delhi offered insights into the weather forecast for the national capital. While a clear sky was predicted, the forecast did not bring immediate relief from the dense fog, with conditions expected to persist until December 29 (Friday). The continued high favorability for fog formation emphasized the need for vigilance and precautionary measures during travel in the affected regions. Commuters are advised to stay informed about travel advisories and exercise caution to navigate through the challenging weather conditions in the coming days.
